an extraordinary destiny

senior comprehensive exhibition

fabric scraps, beads, polymer clay, window

an extraordinary destiny explores the transition from earthly life to eternal life with a series of textile birds flying heavenward.

Each bird is unique; made from fabric scraps, and can be identified as a bird you might see in your own backyard. As the birds ascend and transition, they offer a light and uplifting picture of rebirth, in contrast with the heaviness of death.

The title comes from a quote by C.S. Lewis that says, “Hardships often prepare us for an extraordinary destiny.”
